Meet Our Boy "Buddy"
Buddy is our first Golden Retriever. He was born in June of 2022 near Hamilton Ontario. We drove more than 34 hours to pick him up and bring him home.
Buddy at almost 8 Months Old
We were fully expecting to have to deal with puppy anxiety, whining, and vomiting on the long journey home. But to our surprise, this very calm puppy found his happy place on the back of my neck and was quite comfortable. He spent most of the trip back between my neck and the floor in the back seat of our car sleeping. There was no whining or vomiting to deal with at all.
Buddy has grown into a beautiful 77 pound boy. He has never lost that sweet Teddy Bear look and his nature is as sweet as his face.

My Favorite Photo
This is my favorite photo of Buddy on the trip home from Ontario. You can just see how relaxed he is laying across my shoulders.
I’m not sure why he chose this to be his favorite spot, but it is where he spent the majority of his time on the more than 17 hour trip home.
I tried holding him on my knee or letting him lay at my feet, but every time he would just climb right back on my neck and get settled in.
I’m just glad this is no longer where he wants to be when we’re in a vehicle. You can imagine how awkward it might feel to have full grown golden retriever laying across your shoulders while driving. 🙂
